A step forward together.

Call for papers

Call for Contributions: Papers, Demonstrations, Tutorials

The call for contributions to the HealthGrid conference is now closed.

In total 25 papers, demos and tutorials have been submitted.

The review and selection process has now started, and the results will be announced on February 20 24.

The tenth HealthGrid conference will take place at the Amsterdam Medical Centre from Monday 21st to Wednesday 23rd May 2012. It offers the opportunity to introduce and share novel ideas for the integration of grid, cloud and other e-infrastructures into the fields of biology, bioinformatics, biomedicine and healthcare, focusing on fundamental and practical aspects of middleware, technologies, applications and deployment issues. The conference programme will include high profile keynote presentations complemented by a set of selected papers, tutorials and demonstrations. A special session of invited talks will also retrospect the evolution and challenges of healthgrids during the last 10 years. Additionally, the conference is co-located and jointly organized with the 4th International Workshop on Science Gateways for Life Sciences.

All selected contributions will be published in PubMed-referenced proceedings in the IOS Press book series.

The call for contributions is now closed.

Call for Papers

Submissions are accepted as full or short papers presenting original, unpublished work. Papers are accepted as PDF documents in the IOS style format  (maximum 10 pages for a full paper, 6 pages for a short paper).

The main conference track welcomes contributions related but not limited to the following topics:

  • Challenges in the accessibility and adoption of e-Infrastructures by biomedical users.
  • Core technologies, infrastructures, middleware, algorithms and tools.
  • Security and protection of medical data.
  • Knowledge integration and management.
  • Applications, in particular to bioinformatics, biomedical informatics, medical imaging, public health informatics, epidemiological studies, drug discovery, clinical tests and virtual physiological human.
  • Socio-economic aspects, integration of healthgrid and cloud applications into clinical practice, sustainability and market strategies, virtual organizations and their sociology.

Two special tracks are also offered:

  • The special track on Scientific Gateways for Healthcare, jointly organized with IWSG-Life 2012, focuses on frameworks (or toolsets) incorporating applications, data and tools to run, support, share, search and manage applications and data on e-infrastructures.
  • The Life-Science Grid Community (LSGC) special track focuses on coordinated community efforts made in the life sciences to efficiently exploit distributed computing resources: community work coordination, virtual research community-building, infrastructure operations, community services, application success stories, data collection, quality control and publication.

Paper selection will be based on the originality of their contribution, technical quality, clarity of presentation, and relevance to the conference topics. Selected papers will be invited for oral or poster presentation.

Call for Demonstrations

A demonstration session will showcase innovative prototypes or production platforms relevant to the conference topics. Demonstration proposals can be submitted as 500-word abstracts presenting an overview of the demonstration and a description of the underlying system focusing on its originality and impact.

Call for Tutorials

The purpose of tutorials is to enable new users to employ a specific healthgrid application or system. Tutorial proposals are welcome as 2-page abstracts highlighting the relevance of the topic and describing the application or system, the target audience, the duration of the tutorial and the required infrastructure.
